Do Muslims ever proselytize in the way Mormons/JW's do?

They say that Islam definitely accepts converts, and that Muslims have resorted to violence to force people to convert. But of all the Muslims I've met, not a single one has ever tried to convert me. Not a single one has every brought up religion at all. The only way I've witnessed their religion is when the women wear headscarves and I went to an Islamic funeral. So anyways, are there groups of Muslims that go door to door like Mormons? Or are there Muslims who stand on soap boxes at busy intersections?
