How can I stop biting my nails??

I have been a nail biter since I was a toddler my mom says, for as long as I remember....and I really wanna stop...and I kno people might think its no big deal but with me.it is...i bite them so short that they are nubs all the way down to the cuticle practicly...and also I bite my skin aroind the nail and I have bad hangnails. Ive tried getting my nails done to maybe curb my.habit,but I end up just biting the acryclic...what can I do???????
