Question about acrylic nails and cuticles?

I went to get a fill in for my gel and powder nails and I told the lady to remove my cuticles, I thought she was going to remove them with the drill bit but she didn't. She filled in my nails and then I soaked my nails in water and she pushed my cuticles back and took them off wit a cuticle remover. There was a gap between my fillin and my cuticles. I'm realllly madddd. Is this the correct way of removing cuticles since she's a nail tech. Help!
