How long will it take my thumb to heal?

I snapped my thumb completely in half underneath the cuticle. I did this 2 weeks ago. I got two pins right behind the first joint going in. My finger nail turned completely black. My mom says its going to fall off. Will it? How long will it take to grow back? Mainly how long till i can play sports and use my thumb with or without a split? They didnt cast it cause it is bent for the pins not straight.
