Accident with no insurance? plase help!?

Today about 2 hours ago, I accidentally backed into someone in an intersection. I'm 15 and i have my learners permit and my mom was in the passenger seat. We pulled over, and for some reason my mom starts crying and says she's going to get her lisence suspended for a year. Unbeknownst to me, she hadn't payed our insurance company in 2 months. So at the time we dont have insurance. It only made a minor crack in the plastic piece above the grill, but the police pulled up so we gave our old insurance card to them. What is going to happen when they find out we don't have insurance? We live in Tennessee if that helps.
