How do you get Joomla online?

Ok I'm new to web building and I am building my own personal site. I am with a hosting service. I have finished with my Joomla template and when I'm in the the Administration panel I click on "view site" and I get nothing but my blank home page. I have checked to see if it is offline, it isn't. Did I miss a step somewhere?? How do you publish a website using Joomla with a hosting service??
